SKARDU: Three young Naat and Manqabat performers, Ali Kazim Khawaja (16), his elder brother Nadeem Khawaja (18), and Jan Ali Shah Kazmi (24), were laid to rest in their native villages in Gilgit-Baltistan following their funerals on Saturday, which were attended by thousands of mourners.

The brothers from Skardu and Mr. Jan from Shigar were returning to Karachi after attending a religious ceremony in Khairpur when their car was involved in a head-on collision with an SUV near Sann Town on the Indus Highway. Tragically, all five individuals in the car, including social activist Zain Turabi, son of religious scholar Hasan Turabi, and Abdul Ghani Mangrio from Rohri, died on the spot due to the severity of the crash.

Following the incident, the bodies were taken to Manjhand Taluka Hospital and later transferred to Karachi, where two of the deceased were buried. The remains of Ali, Nadeem, and Jan were returned to Skardu via a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight for burial in their hometowns.
